The Story Behind The Costume Queen and Meet Our Staff
The Costume Queen is the creation of Barbara Jean Emery of Rock Hill, SC. She is an accomplished seamstress of over 40 years. Barbara was taught, at the age of five, how to sew by her mother and grandmother. At the age of ten she made Barbie clothes to sell to her classmates. As a teenager if she couldn't decide what to wear...she would make a skirt or dress to wear for school the next day. Barbara made most of the costumes for a school play during her senior year in high school. She has made wedding gowns, bridesmaids gowns, costumes for Halloween and church plays, and has altered hundreds of garments. She loves to add bling to costumes!
One of Barbara's favorite shows was TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras. She had been dreaming about making pageant costumes for a few years. She met a few pageant mom's and started making costumes for Outfit Of Choice and Theme Wear at local pageants. The costumes were a HIT! All of Barbara's costumes are custom made to fit the theme and your child. The sky is the limit! She can make ANYTHING! She really pays attention to detail!
Barbara creates costumes for theater, television, movies, dance, gymnastics, pageants, entertainers, Halloween and more. Contact her for more information on making an innovative costume that will meet your needs.
